Don't Miss 'Meet Your Best Friend' at the Detroit Zoo

ROYAL OAK, Mich., April 20 /PRNewswire/ -- The Detroit Zoo and the Michigan Humane Society present the 13th annual "Meet Your Best Friend at the Zoo" on April 30 and May 1 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. This is the nation's largest off-site, animal adoption program in which visitors to the Detroit Zoo can adopt a loveable pet. The event is a collaborative effort with the Michigan Humane Society and several local animal welfare organizations.
This exciting event will be held in the Detroit Zoo's front parking lot at 10 Mile Road and Woodward Ave., where admission and parking are free to the event. Hundreds of adoptable dogs, puppies, cats, kittens and rabbits are available for immediate adoption from the Michigan Humane Society and participating groups. Each participating group sets adoption fees and policies.
Last year, the spring "Meet Your Best Friend at the Zoo" event found homes for 714 animals. Since the event inception in 1993, over 10,000 dogs, cats and rabbits have been placed into new homes. The event is sponsored by The Cat Practice, Dworkis Dog and Cat Hospital, Lite Rock 93.9 FM and Mirror newspapers.

The Detroit Zoological Institute, is comprised of the Detroit Zoo and the Belle Isle Nature Zoo. The Institute, founded in 1928, is committed to celebrating and saving wildlife.
