Trend Micro Extends Web Reputation Technology to Internet Gateway Security Appliance for Mid-sized Businesses
Gateway security for mid-sized organizations enhanced with dynamic security platform including Total Web Threat Protection techn

CUPERTINO, Calif., July 2 /PRNewswire/ -- Trend Micro Incorporated, , a leader in network antivirus and content security software and services, today announced enhancements to Trend Micro(TM) InterScan(TM) Gateway Security Appliance, its leading secure content management appliance for mid-sized organizations.

InterScan Gateway Security Appliance is an easy to install, easy to maintain content security appliance with no hidden costs. A multi-layered approach to stopping threats in-the-cloud, at the gateway and at the desktop helps businesses ensure effective network security. InterScan Gateway Security Appliance covers all three areas on one dynamic security platform with Hosted Services for Web and email reputation and URL Filtering, performance-optimized gateway appliance platform, and Desktop Cleanup Service for automated cleanup of desktops from malware or spyware.

Unlike UTM (unified threat management) appliances, InterScan Gateway Security Appliance sits behind a customer's existing firewall/VPN solution, providing an additional layer to Internet gateway security. This new edition adds the increased security of Trend Micro Web reputation technology to its integrated antivirus, anti-spyware, anti-spam, content filtering, URL filtering and anti-bot functionality.

InterScan Gateway Security is Total Web Threat Protection compliant with Web reputation and email reputation included. Other new feature enhancements include image spam protection and data leakage prevention. The appliance has recently been awarded premium level certification by West Coast Labs for its expert anti-spam technology. Additionally, in a recent anti-spam benchmark test conducted by independent testing agency, Opus One, multi-tiered anti-spam from Trend Micro achieved the highest catch rate of 97.36 percent and a competitive low false positive rate when compared to several popular anti-spam solutions.

Trend Micro Web reputation technology helps break the infection chain by assigning Websites a "reputation" based on an assessment of the trustworthiness of an URL, derived from an analysis of the domain. It protects against Web-based threats including zero-day attacks, before they reach the network. Trend Micro Web reputation technology tracks the lifecycle of hundreds of millions of Web domains, extending proven Trend Micro email anti-spam reputation protection to the web.

"Through its customer focused business environment combined with ongoing threat research, Trend Micro is committed to providing customers security solutions they can rely on," said Steve Quane, general manager Trend Micro small and medium sized business operations. "InterScan Gateway Security Appliance hits the security target for mid-sized customers by delivering a truly dynamic security platform with no hidden costs for our customers. By developing flexible content security solutions, Trend Micro continues to protect as customers' businesses grow."

Pricing and Availability

InterScan Gateway Security Appliance is available immediately. With up to eight models to choose from (IGSA 100, 200, 300, 400, 500, 600, 800, and 1000) list pricing starts at $4,490.
