On Wednesday, October 24, "Web Services Edge 2001 International Web Services Conference & Expo" will open with a keynote delivered by Steve Benfield, founding editor of Web Services Journal and the tech-chair of Web Services Edge 2001 conference. Later in the day, one of the most important panel discussions on Web Services will shed light on the future of i-technology. The "Web Services CEO Panel" will host top executives from leading Web Services companies, including: David Litwack (CEO, SilverStream), Annrai O'Toole (CEO, Cape Clear), Dirk Slama (CEO, Shinka Technologies), Barry Morris (CEO, IONA Technologies), Ali Kutay (CEO, AltoWeb),and Greg O'Connor (President, Sonic Software). The keynote panel will be moderated by Steve Benfield, conference tech-chair and chief technology officer of SilverStream Software. The transcript of the panel discussion will be published in the November issue of Web Services Journal and the Webcast will be available on the conference Web site. The two keynotes on Thursday, October 25, will be delivered by Annrai O'Toole, executive chairman of Cape Clear and Dave Chapell, vice president of Sonic Software. SYS-CON also announced today the complete conference programs (www.sys-con.com) for XMLEdge2001 and Web Services Edge 2001 international conferences. A 24-page conference program will be mailed to 600,000 i-technology professionals on Monday, July 2 (http://www.sys-con.com/xmledge/conferencebrochure.pdf). "As large-scale international events focusing on XML and Web Services technologies, XMLEdge2001 and Web Services Edge 2001 fill a big void in Silicon Valley," said Fuat Kircaali, founder and CEO of SYS-CON Events. "This year, XMLEdge will be colocated with SYS-CON's first annual Web Services Edge International Web Services Conference & Expo to offer an unmatched technical program." "For the second year in a row SYS-CON's groundbreaking developer event at Santa Clara Convention Center is expected to sell out before the conference date," said Cathy Walters, vice president of SYS-CON Events. "Last year we closed registrations approximately one month before the conference date and turned down walk-in registration requests for the SYS-CON event that took place at the same location. This year we doubled the conference space and increased the educational track offerings from five to nine simultaneous sessions." "The XMLEdge2001 expo floor has also been doubled in size from last year's SYS-CON event at the same location to accommodate our first annual Web Services Edge/West Expo," said Grisha Davida, vice president of SYS-CON Media. "However, this year and going forward, we will extend sponsorship opportunities to companies by invitation only as the expo floor still may not accommodate all vendors that expressed an interest in participating in this exciting technology event." Early sponsors, exhibitors and participating companies of this year's "Edge" events (as of May 2001), include: Advantel, Aligo, AltoWeb, BEA Systems, Bestning, Cape Clear, CF Advisor, CodeHound, Compuware, DataQuad, Entegrity Solutions, Hewlett-Packard, InCert Software, Inferdata, IONA Technologies, Java Developer's Journal, Kenamea, MERANT, Nova Labs, Oracle, ParaSoft, Pingtel, Programmer's Paradise, Rational Software, Rogue Wave Software, SavaJe, SD Times, SEAGULL, Shinka Technologies, SilverStream, Sitraka, Sonic Software, SYS-CON Radio, TogetherSoft, TopCoder, Tower Technology, Web Services Journal, Web Techniques, White Hill, XML.org, XMLCities, and XML-Journal.
