Montvale, NJ, March 23, 2001 - SYS-CON Media ("SYS-CON") announced today that on February 12, 2001, it filed with the American Arbitration Association an arbitration against Camelot Communications Corp. ("Camelot"). In 2000, Camelot provided outside services to SYS-CON in connection with SYS-CON's trade show business and developer conferences. SYS-CON ended its relationship with Camelot in late December 2000 and announced SYS-CON Events, Inc., in January 2001. SYS-CON Events will continue to present its world-leading Java, XML, Linux, ColdFusion, Wireless, Web Services and other developer conferences and expositions and will replace all outside services that had previously been provided by Camelot.
In the arbitration, SYS-CON contends that Camelot failed to account to SYS-CON and owes SYS-CON more than $500,000 in connection with the conferences held in 2000. SYS-CON further contends that in addition to other wrongful activities, Camelot has been engaged in unfair competition and has violated and infringed upon trademark and other rights of SYS-CON; that Camelot has caused confusion in the marketplace with respect to whether SYS-CON is sponsoring Camelot's current trade shows, or is otherwise affiliated or associated with Camelot; and that Camelot is wrongfully using certain conferences names and associated tradedress. SYS-CON seeks monetary damages of more than $500,000 and injunctive and related relief. Camelot contends that certain of SYS-CON's claims are not arbitrable. SYS-CON contends that all of its claims are arbitrable. If, however, there is a determination that some claims are not arbitrable, SYS-CON will pursue those claims in court.
