As delegates headed home from the Fifth International Cloud Expo in New York, and looked forward to the upcoming Cloud Expo conferences in Prague and Santa Clara, announcements about the Cloud continued.
The latest is CloudLinux 5.5, announced by CloudLinux Inc. as "the current version of RPM-based Linux ensuring its continued interchangeability with Red Hat EL and CentOS. CloudLinux 5.5 is available to subscribing customers via CloudLinux Network today and is based on the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 5.5 update," the company said.
CloudLinux is an RPM-based operating system but is based on its own kernel, the company says, differentiated from its competitors by using what the company calls LVE (Lightweight Virtual Environment) technology.
The CloudLinux update will be released before other similar distributions and will be fully tested with all major control panels on the market including cPanel, Parallels Plesk Panel, InterworX, DirectAdmin and ISPManager, the company said.
